OV9653 is an Omnivision 1,3 Mpixels sensor that can be found in the following commercial camera modules:
* in the [http://www.microjet.com.tw/english/product_cmos.htm 22T1 module] from Microjet (Taiwaneese company). This module seems to be no more available for sale :-(. If you were a VirtualCogs (R.I.P.) owner, you may probably have one.
* [http://www.shchl.com/English/products&services-ccm.html C139] of SHCHL (Shangai). Seems to be the same module than 22T1 (to confirm). This module seems still available [http://www.electronics123.com/s.nl/it.A/id.2698/.f?sc=8&category=241 here (US)]

==Connecting the 22T1 module to the APF27==
* Datasheet of the 22T1 module are available [http://www.warf.com/download/150_5644_1.pdf here]. They only detail the hardware interface.
* Omnivision sensors are easily available but when it comes to obtain the datasheet of the sensor it becomes harder. Even if you find some datasheet, the informations inside must be read with caution: some are erronous. So [http://agate.msoe.edu/gf/project/wiicam/scmsvn/?action=browse&path=/trunk/docs/camera/ here is one of those].
* This modules needs a Kyocera BTB 24 pins 0.4mm pitch connector (10-5802-024-000-829) to be plugged in. No idea where to find it easily.

===Description===
* CSI port (8 bits data + 4 bits control signals) is used to transmit images. (10 bits mode not usable on i.MX). These signals are available on the APF27Dev J9 connector (2,5V logic).
* I2C bus is used to configure the sensor. This bus is available on the APF27Dev J8 connector.
* Sensor core power supply (1,8V) is derived from 2,8V of J9.

===Adaptation board===
* (Preliminary) Schematics and layouts (for [http://kicad.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page KiCAD]) of an APF27 adaptation board are available [http://dl.free.fr/opT0rvWWZ here].

{{Warning| '''!!! FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE OBSOLETE AND HERE ONLY FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSE !!!'''}}

== Requirements ==

You must install the ''libc++'' on your target. If you want to use the Qt Gui module, you must have the ''libpng'' package (select it in the menuconfig in ''buildroot'').

== Getting the packages ==

You must get the packages '''qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz''' & '''qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz''' from the ftp server of the trolltech company as anonymous user (no password)

# ftp ftp.trolltech.com
# Name (ftp.trolltech.com:user): anonymous
# cd /qt/source
# get qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz
# get qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz
# quit

or use the wget command:
# wget --user=anonymous ftp.trolltech.com:/qt/source/qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz
# wget --user=anonymous ftp.trolltech.com:/qt/source/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz

(new qtopia mirror)
# wget --user=anonymous http://ftp.roedu.net/mirrors/ftp.trolltech.com/qt/source/qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz

== Installation ==
From now, we consider the variable ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR as the root directory of the Armadeus SVN snapshot on your computer.

Copy and untar the downloaded packages into an installation folder called qt_installs:
# cd $ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR
# mkdir qt_installs
# cp $DOWNLOAD_FOLDER/qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz   \
$DOWNLOAD_FOLDER/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz $ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR/qt_installs
# tar fxz qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz
# tar fxz qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0.tar.gz

First you may install/update Qt 4.2 on your system if is not installed yet because you will need the Qt tools ( the designer for instance ....).
Additionally you must compile and install the ''qvfb'' and ''qconfig'' tools. ....

# cd qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.0
# ./configure
# make
# su root
# make install
# cd tools/qvfb/ ; make
# install -m 755 -p ../../bin/qvfb /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.2.0/bin
# cd ../qconfig ; make
# install -m 755 -p qconfig /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.2.0/bin
# make confclean

Then as user, configure, compile the Qtopia package for the virtual frame buffer installation. Once done, install all these into the $ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR/qt/qvfb folder

# cd qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0
# ./configure -depths 8,16,32 -no-cups -release  -qvfb -prefix \
$ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR/qt/qvfb -no-qt3support
# make
# su root
# make install
# make confclean

Now, as user, the essential: Qtopia

# ./configure -embedded arm -little-endian -depths 8,16,32 -no-cups -release \
-fast -qconfig medium -prefix $ARMADEUS_ROOT_DIR/qt/qtopia.4.2.0
# make
# make install

Note: the compilation/installation of the Qtopia demos may not work, but all the Qt libraries are well done.

To install one or several different configurations, please read the Qt documentation included to understand the different configuration options. I advise you to preserve the ''qt_installs/qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.2.0'' installation folder. Indeed, you may install Qtopia again in the following cases:
* You are using a new arm-linux-g++ compiler version
* You need several different installations because you are working on different projects ( For example the LCD properties are different).
* You want to add the Qt3 support
* you want to resize the Qt libraries to save some space on your rootfs.

<noinclude>
How-To connect your Armadeus board to your development Host.

==Forewords==
The default connection uses a simple RS232 Null-Modem cable (with or without USB<->serial adapter).
As you will have to transfer some mega bytes of data, the Ethernet link is mandatory.
In order to use these two media with the APF target a terminal emulator (for RS232 link) and a TFTP server (for Ethernet link) have to be configured.
</noinclude>
At this stage, you should have something looking like that (IP addresses may change):

[[Image:BoardConnection.png]]

{{:RS232 Terminal configuration}}

==TFTP server==
In order to send your image files (U-Boot, Linux, rootfs or FPGA's firmware) at higher speed (than serial port) to your Armadeus board, you can use the Ethernet link and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trivial_File_Transfer_Protocol a TFTP server].
Once the server configured, the files located in the server shared directory (''/tftpboot'' by default) will be accessible from the U-Boot/Linux TFTP clients.

===TFTP server installation===
* On *Ubuntu / Debian:

[  ] $ sudo apt-get install tftpd xinetd

or use your preferred graphical package manager
* On Fedora:

[  ] $ rpm -q tftpd xinetd

* Then create the directory (''/tftpboot/'') that will contain all the files that the server will export:

[  ] $ sudo mkdir /tftpboot
[  ] $ sudo chmod 777 /tftpboot

===Server configuration===
* Edit (as root user) or create the configuration file ''/etc/xinetd.d/tftp'' and modify/add it the following lines:
# default: off
# description: The tftp server serves files using the trivial file transfer
# protocol. The tftp protocol is often used to boot diskless
# workstations, download configuration files to network-aware printers,
# and to start the installation process for some operating systems.
service tftp
{
socket_type             = dgram
protocol                = udp
wait                    = yes
user                    = root
server                  = /usr/sbin/in.tftpd
server_args             = -s /tftpboot
#       disable                 = yes
}

* Restart xinetd service:

[  ] $ sudo killall -HUP xinetd

<noinclude>
For more information regarding how-to setup a TFTP server please check one of many Web How-to:

==== Errata (if you have troubles) ====

It looks like xinetd configuration is not sufficient in some recent versions of this tool. IPv6 is enabled by default and seems to be not compatible with the TFTP protocol. A simple inetd configuration should work for people who have this problem (''connection refused'' in system logs with addresses like ::ffff:192.168.0.100).

* Edit (as root user) - if necessary - the ''/etc/inetd.conf'' file and add this line:

tftp		dgram	udp	wait	nobody	/usr/sbin/tcpd	/usr/sbin/in.tftpd -s /tftpboot

* Install inetd tools

On Ubuntu/Debian

$ sudo apt-get install inetutils-tools

* Setup the hosts rules: edit (as root user) ''/etc/hosts.allow'' and add the following lines:

in.tftpd: ALL
tftpd: ALL

* Restart inetd

$ sudo /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

It's done... and should work for most people.
